So, what makes me different from the thousands of others who are raising money for the Christie? Probably the fact that I am still under their treatment.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, at the age of 32. (That glamourous picture is me during chemo in the cold cap that saved most of my hair from falling out...and even though I’m ridiculously grateful for it, brain freeze will never be the same.) However, being the stubborn mare that I am, two years after a mastectomy to remove 6cm of tumours in my right breast, I’m running again. And not just running, but doing so in order to raise funds for the hospital that gave me life saving chemotherapy and radiotherapy. A hospital that I still visit a couple of times a year to see my wonderful oncologist.
So, if you can spare a few quid, please donate (and please donate to me as I have a ridiculously huge target to meet 😂) Unfortunately most of us know someone who has been through the cancer nightmare, but developments in research constantly mean that lives are being saved and prolonged. Mine is one of those and this is one little way of me saying thank you to the doctors and nurses who treat people like me every day.
