I have been invited to help raise money for this great cause by my friend Andrew Abbey, as this is one that affects him and his family directly. So to do it justice I have shared his story below:

My story is about my wife rather than myself.

2 weeks before the birth of my twin girls, Selma got diagnosed with Bells palsy. Most people with Facial Palsy (about 80 percent) recover within a few weeks or months, but unfortunately 2 and a half years later she still has it.

The hardest thing for Selma is not being able to get her smile back, and it hasn’t been until very recently that she has started to have photos taken again. Seeing how she has coped over this time and dealt with everything really has made me proud. Hard enough raising twin girls and an older daughter Ayla, but then to deal with losing your smile would have knocked anyone for six. Selma has had her down times but has really battled through and got on with it.

Anyway her courage and amazingness has inspired me to do something! Running the Brighton marathon. Raising money for her charity and at the same time hoping to raise a little more awareness. Facial Palsy UK really is a fantastic cause and the ongoing treatment Queen Victoria hospital give Selma and all their other patients is life changing. They can't continue without your help.
