My story
Hi and thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.
It has always been one of my longstanding ambitions to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Last year, with my 50th birthday looming and assisted in only a small part by a couple of drinks, a firm commitment was made to fulfil that ambition and my long suffering friend Nige was 'persuaded' to do likewise.
So, it's off to Africa on Saturday 22nd October 2011.
The charity I am endeavouring to raise money for is Contact the Elderly.Some of you may know that this charity aims to provide comfort and support to elderly people living on their own by transporting them to a monthly afternoon tea party. I have been a driver for the charity since 2005 and it is a truly rewarding experience. I know that for many of the elderly who attend the parties it is a monthly highlight.
Please give much as you are able, as it is a fantastic cause and one which is often forgotten.
No doubt I'll be updating my trials and tribulations over the coming weeks. In the meantime, thank you for your love and support.

We organise regular, monthly tea parties on a Sunday afternoon in the homes of our volunteers across the UK. These outings are a ray of light in the lives of older people living alone; giving them something to look forward to in the knowledge that someone cares and the opportunity to make new and lasting friendships with fellow guests and our volunteers. </p> <p>Contact the Elderly is a registered charity in England and Wales (244681) and in Scotland (SC039377) </p>
