The deed was done covering 147 miles without too much pain. We are absolutely delighted with our sponsors donations so far. It's not too late to donate so if you have not flashed your cash now is your chance.
The idea behind this event was to Cycle from Whitehaven to Sunderland along the official C2C Route using off-road sections wherever possible including the harder "Old Coach Road" option! The 3 day event took place on 3-4-5 May 2008 with a total distance covered of 147 miles including all the off-road options.
The participants got the joint satisfaction of being able to say "I did that!" and hopefully raise funds for a very worthwhile charity. Our supporters will also be raising funds whilst laughing at our aches and pains. We are producing a photo-diary to enable supporters to share our experience and we can promise no "baboon like" photo's will be included, but there will be some photos, facts, stories and hopefully a few laughs!
The charity we chose was Cancer Research UK as we are nearly all affected either directly, or indirectly by this disease. With one in four adults in the UK now affected at some time in their lives this really is close to home for all of us. I personally (Steven) will be riding in memory of my wife Angela's father, Mick, Angela's close friend Julie and our old driver John Reay, all of whom passed away due to Cancer.
We all have a story to tell, a close relative or friend to whom we can relate this to so please make the effort and sponsor us online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
