At the end of April 2016, I will be taking part in the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge in memory of Beckie Constant who sadly lost her short battle with colon cancer at the end of June 2015 at the tender age of 38.  

This challenge sees entrants walk 106km around the coast of the Isle of Wight, normally in 20-30hours.  Those of you that know me will no doubt be thinking how my current physique does not fit with the usual 'endurance challenge' stereotype (unless you're talking about endurance eating / drinking :)) so I'm also using this as a good excuse / reason to get fit.  My aim is to have shed at least 50lbs before the event next April or I don't think my legs will cope..

I'll be fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support as requested by Beckie.  Macmillan help ensure that anyone diagnosed with any form of cancer don't go through it alone.  They provide support every step of the way through and with more than 1 in 3 of us suffering from some form of cancer in our lives, that's a lot of support!!

This challenge isn't going to be easy, particularly with my added weight loss goal so I'll try and post regular updates as to how I'm getting on with my training over the next 9 months.
