I have decided that for a ’holiday’ this year I am going to hike the John Muir Trail in California, not only as a personal challenge, but to raise money for Venture Scotland who do a great job helping vulnerable young people.

The JMT runs 211 miles along the crest of the Sierra Nevada mountain range starting at Yosemite Valley and ending on Mount Whitney (the highest mountain in the contiguous United States at 14,505 ft).  I'm planning to take 3 weeks to complete the trail.  This is a blog I intend to keep up to date with information about the trip:
