Story
Thank you for visiting my Justgiving page:
I have decided to do something to raise funds for charity which is to ride my bike from London (Greenwich Park) to Paris over four days from the 18th to 22nd June in aid of Cure Leukaemia UK.
I have never done anything like this before so am quite excited but equally quite daunted by the prospect which began last weekend on the training front. If you are able to make a donation no matter how small it would be very much appreciated and assist in saving the lives of many people, unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with this form of cancer.
I was inspired to read about the former Crystal Palace captain Geoff Thomas who suffered from this blood cancer and who was only given a matter of months to live upon diagnosis. However, having undergone gruelling treatment Geoff's cancer is now in its tenth year of remission and due to pioneering work and the advancement of technology, bone marrow transplants and chemotherapy are now being replaced by a single pill highlighting the advances that have been made by charities like Cure Leukaemia UK.
Leukaemia can affect anyone at any age, and Cure Leukaemia has been fighting back for more than ten years. Around 12,000 people die from blood cancers in Britain each year and the prospect of survival for many adults with the disease is still less than 50%, which is exactly why your support is so vital and so valuable. Geoff is patron of CureLeukaemia UK and on this tenth anniversary is marking the occasion with this bike ride to Paris in aid of this very deserving charity.
