Monday 10 May - Dael was met in Inverness by Duncan Chisholm of  St John Highland, Steve Worseley from Dundonell mountain rescue team with a vehicle donated by St John, Hamish Wyllie and Colin Lyon from the Cairngorm team plus dog!

5 May Dael has reached Peterhead after a day of wind, fog and rain. He spotted a wild otter early this morning which was a rare treat.

I have set myself the challenge of cycling around Scotland staying to the coast wherever possible. I have done a couple of long-distance cycle rides before but not on my own. This will be about 1000 miles and I am 67 so I am going to take my time and enjoy the journey!

I am keen to raise awareness of St John Scotland and its invaluable support of our mountain rescue teams - over £2.5m since 1997. I will be meeting mountain rescue volunteers along the way wherever I can. Your donations will help St John to continue this support - providing vehicles, bases and equipment to the teams. It also supports SARDA - the rescue dogs association - and the Loch Lomond rescue boat.
