Jeevika Trust - Walk for Water 2009 · 13 September 2009 ·

JEEVIKA TRUST tackles the roots of Indian poverty - working in rural areas with low-caste and tribal people, especially women - to help them build their individual and community livelihoods. Our latest partner is AKSHAYA KSHETRAM, a charity which cares for mentally challenged people and orphans.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you know my dad Raj Sitlani is a trustee of Jeevika Trust. Jeevika Trust is a small but very important charity.

Jeevika Trust tackles the roots of poverty in India which lie in India’s 600,000 villages.  Village poverty drives city poverty.  It was Mahatma Gandhi who said that ‘if the villages perish, India will perish’.

On September 13th 2009 I am going on a charity walk. We will walk for 7 miles which is the average typical distance a woman has to walk daily to collect water. This is far too long and very unfair. I hope that by walking this distance and by raising some donations, I will make a big difference to the lives of many families

So please sponsor me for this very worthwhile cause
