COPS London2Paris Bike Ride 2021

My name is Daisy daughter of PC Ian Godfrey who sadly passed away 20th June 1999 in a RTC. I was a 6 year old girl who got told by my bamps when I woke up my daddy wasn't coming home and that he got taken to heaven. I didn't know how to take it, I didn't understand. He was my hero, my security and I was his girl. A massive part of my life has been grief and not accepting him being gone but COPS are an Incredible charity and have helped us through some hard and tough times. Speaking to other Surviors and talking about our loved ones like they are still here. They Never forgotten. We are one big family, and sadly it keeps growing with the loss of Police Officers and Staff.
COPS provides peer support opportunities and access to counselling services to help surviving family members (survivors) rebuild their shattered lives."COPS is like a comfort blanket. You can ring people in the middle of the night and speak to someone who has been there. In my early teens it was quite difficult and COPS gave me an outlet where I could speak to other parents when I didn't want to upset my mum.Your loss is a part of who you are but COPS helps you realise that it doesn't define you. We are all one big family."Since its foundation in 2003, COPS has helped hundreds of police families devastated by the loss of a loved one who died on duty.
