Story
On Sunday 22 October I will be running the Great South Run in Portsmouth in aid of St Mark’s Hospital.
St. Mark’s Hospital is a national and international referral centre for intestinal and colorectal disorders. As well as clinical services covering all aspects of colorectal disease and intestinal failure, it has many research interests and a very active programme of teaching and education.
In 2004 after being diagnosed with bowel cancer - Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), I was referred to St Mark’s Hospital for specialist treatment. Whilst under the care of Professor Robin Philips I had a large bowel resection – an operation to remove the entire diseased bowel. In a second operation I had an ileal pouch reconstruction which allows me to live without a permanent ileostomy or external appliance after colectomy.
Thanks to St Mark’s advanced medical and surgical expertise I have been able to maintain a good quality of life with very few compromises. This leaves me indebted to St Mark’s Hospital and determined to raise funds so that many more patients in the future receive the superior treatment that I received.
Please donate as much or as little as you can for this worthy cause.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Mark's Hospital Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
