The Driscoll team, Tash, Ben and Damian on Bikes (with Mandy as support team - drinking tea), are attempting the London to Cambridge Challenge.
Cycling 60 miles.. rain or shine (most likely rain) across beautiful English countryside to raise money for the worthy cause of the Gaucher's Association.
Gaucher's is an hereditary disease, 1/50,000 births. It is however, shocking to believe that this is caused by a recessive allele that 1 in 100 of us is a carrier.
This disease ultimately causes a fatty build up on the spleen, liver, kidneys, lungs, brain and bone marrow, and suffers become easily subject to infection.
Little is known as in the way of treatment for this disease. One current method of treatment is enzyme replacement therapy, which both still in it's early stages of development and is very expensive. The money we will raise will go towards promoting awareness and research.
I hope that you can find the time to donate towards this wonderful charity.
