The teams hope is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of a close friend Sophie Drury, who died in April 2008, aged 34 after sadly losing her 10 year battle with ovarian cancer.
The Event
On 20th May 2010 the ‘Hel Risers’, led by myself, will compete with nine other teams of four and will line up to race an exhausting 54Km through the . The course will include
· A 12Km kayak on Ullswater · A further 12Km scramble up and down Helvelyn - the peak is 970m and is the third highest point in · Followed by 30Km of mixed terrain mountain bikingThe Fourth Challenge
As well as facing the three challenging disciplines of the Mountain Triathlon the fourth challenge is raising money in support of the charity – and this is where you can help. If you can contribute and support me in this race please please dig deep and donate here now. The more money I can raise the bigger incentive I have to run and cycle and paddle faster. I will not let you down.
There is also an excellent website which I urge you to visit http://www.sophieslegacy.org/ . You can easily make a donation here to MacMillan Cancer Support or one of the other supported charities.
The website also provides lots of information on Sophie’s Legacy and the 2010 Mountain Triathlon Challenge together with details of each of the teams taking part in the event and their aspirations.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
