Damian McCartney is raising money for The Arsenal Foundation
Story
Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
All my friends and family know what a huge Arsenal fan I am. To be able to raise money for children whose lives have been horribly affected by conflict and suffrage is a moment in my life where I could make a huge difference. To give them something to look forward to everyday after having their entire lives turned upside-down is an opportunity I couldn't turn down.
I came back home from the United States to be apart of this amazing project and do something bigger than myself. Two Arsenal legends (Per Mertesacker and David Seaman), 99 other Arsenal fans and myself will trek through the deserts and landscapes of Jordan for a cause we believe in. This will take place from the 23-28th of March 2020.
The Arsenal Foundation uses the power of football and the Arsenal name to inspire and support young people in North London, Jordan, Indonesia and across the globe.
The Arsenal Foundation has co-developed the groundbreaking Coaching for Life programme which utilises football to improve the mental wellbeing of children affected by conflict and violence. The programme is currently operating in the Za'atari Refugee Camp in Jordan and the Slum communities of Jakarta, Indonesia.
In Indonesia, Coaching for Life is working with children living in the dense urban slums where many are at risk of extreme hunger, exploitation and child marriage. In Jordan the project is working with Syrian refugee children who have seen their lives torn apart by conflict. The programme aims.to reach 4,500 boys and girls ages between 12-18.
