Story

Hello Everyone

Thanks for taking the time to visit my donation page. So I have decided to ruin the next 6 months of my life and run the London Marathon. The charity I have chosen to run for is probably unknown to you so I will provide a short explanation.

In 2008 by friend's mum, Susan Underwood was diagnosed with a rare disease called Lambert Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome, which in the space of 5 days turned her from being a normal, healthy woman to one who can only stagger a few steps, has difficulty chewing, swallowing, breathing, speaking clearly, lifting her arms and can no longer perform the day to day tasks we all take for granted.

LEMS is essentially severe muscle weakness. The body produces antibodies which attack the connection between the muscles and the nerve endings and cause a breakdown of communication between them so that the muscles are no longer able to function properly

There is currently no cure for LEMS, partly due to under-funding from a research perspective. The Myasthenia Gravis Association (MGA) directly funds the research that Susan's consultant carries out, which will one day hopefully find a cure for this rare condition.

I aim to raise a minimum of £1500 for the MGA, which will go directly into the research of LEMS.

Thanks for your support.
