Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into the causes and treatment of ME/CFS. This illness affects over 400,000 people in the UK but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We fund highly regarded, peer-reviewed research worldwide.

QUICK UPDATE: If anyone is coming along to watch, that will be brilliant. To get an idea for where i might be at various times, use this cool map tool, and input 4hours 15mins for my approx arrival times at each milemarker - http://havensrunners.co.uk/marathon-route-map/

Hi folks,

Thanks for visiting my donation page - which has predictably been set up very very close to the marathon!

I could regale you here with tales of my training so far, but that would most likely get dull, as it mostly involves me wanting to get to the end of my run and have a bacon sandwich. Plus it can be summarised in a word - Ouch!

However, it looks like I'm going to make it to next weekend and give it my best shot, which is something of a miracle in itself for someone who previously considered lifting a few pints as exercise (and will do once again very soon after April 25th!).

If you're able to give a few pounds towards my chosen charity - ME Research UK  - that would be fantastic. They do lots of sciencey work looking for a breakthrough into treatment for ME (also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).

My sister unfortunately suffered from this some years ago, but has made a wonderful full recovery, so hopefully your donations can help other people in the same situation.

The blurb about Justgiving is below, but the essentials are it claims back the tax on your donations, so for each £10 you give the charity gets about £12.80 - and higher rate taxpayers can claim back even more on tax returns. Can;t stop the MoneySavingExpert in me!

Thanks everyone - hope to see some of you on the day.

Dan
