Sunday 21st October marks the fifth annual Bud's Run, a 5k run held on and around my university campus (University of Birmingham), and I'll be taking part.

As some of you may know, I took up running a few months ago as a hobby, and have been looking for my first public run/race to take part in. I was made aware of Bud's Run through my university running club, and it seemed like the perfect way for me to take part in a run whilst also doing something useful for the world in the form of raising money for Parkinson's UK.

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. The number of people diagnosed with Parkinson's in the UK is about 145,000. That's around 1 adult in every 350.

Parkinson's UK is helping people with Parkinson's by working to improve the quality of healthcare for patients, conducting vital research to improve treatments and searching for a cure.

Over the last four years, Bud's Run has helped to raise just under £70,000 for Parkinson's UK, and this year I want to help. That's why I'm asking my friends and family to sponsor me and donate to the charity. Doesn't matter how big or small, every little helps and I massively appreciate any donations.
