Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my 3 Peaks Challenge page.

I am taking part through: www.the-insurance-surgery.co.uk

on behalf of: Macmillan Nurses

I have been very kindly invited to join the Avondale Team to compete in this years 3 Peaks challenge on Saturday 26th September. Stupidly I said yes! This means we will be climbing the 3 highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales, Ben Nevis (1344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowden (1085m), all in just 24 hours on 26th & 27th September 2009.

WHY donate? Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. One in three of us will get cancer. We are all affected by cancer. Everyone I know has in some way been affected by Cancer at some stage in their lives, whether it be personally, Loved one's, Friends or Relatives.

Macmillan Nurses is one of many charities who work tirelessly to help support those people who have been affected by Cancer. I personally could not imagine how difficult it would be to live with such an awful condition and having seen the affects first hand to people I have cared about greatly, I could not think of a more worthy cause!

Macmillan are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It's not only patients who live with cancer, so we also help carers, families and communities. Macmillan guide people through the system, supporting them every step of the way. They fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres. But we give so much more than medical help.

People need practical support at home, so Macmillan provide anything from some precious time off for a carer, to a lift to hospital. People need emotional support, so they listen, advise and share information though our CancerLine, website, support groups and trained professionals. People need financial help to cope with the extra costs cancer can bring, so Macmillan give benefits advice, and grants for anything from heating bills to travel costs.
