Story
Tom and I are attempting to overcome four solid years of drinking beer and eating McDonalds since our last marathon to complete another one and in doing so, raise money for an incredible charity in RMH Manchester, to help create the Steve Burne Rooms!
Steve Burne is a longstanding legend of AEW Architects and was diagnosed with cancer in May 2017 which was confirmed as terminal in October. This is a reminder that time is most precious.
In addition to Steve's role at AEW, he has been closely involved with Ronald McDonald House Charities for 15 years and acted as Chair of the Manchester House Board of Governors since it opened 5 years ago. The Ronald McDonald House in Manchester supports families whose children are undergoing treatment at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital or St Mary's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The 60 bedroom House provides a free, welcoming place to stay. Each bedroom can accommodate up to four people and the House has communal living areas such as kitchens, playrooms and a garden. House staff are on hand to offer a listening ear and organize activities so families can take some time away from the hospital, to gather strength, but still be close to their child.
Steve's experience as Chair of Ronald McDonald House in Manchester, the love for his own family and understanding of the pressures and stress through illness has resulted in a new resolve: an aim to raise £250,000 to convert three spaces in the Manchester House into larger 6 person family rooms and to do it in his lifetime. The rooms will be named in Steve's honour.
Please help us to raise as much money as possible for something that will mean a lot to a lot of people!
Thank you
