4hrs 41mins 25secs - it was very tough but I'm over the moon! Thank you so much for sponsoring me and helping WellChild with their exceptional work with sick children.

So why am I doing this I hear you ask?   You may recall that in August 2011 my right lung collapsed and I entered a world of pain. The clever people at Hospital then managed to fix me, but not before making me re-enter the world of pain.   When I had recovered and got back to work someone ‘cheered me up’ by reminding me that just before this occurred, I had (somewhat hastily with hindsight) ‘shown an interest’ in joining the Simplyhealth team competing in the London Marathon and joy of joys we had secured a place. Now don't get me wrong, I was once again impressed with the generosity of the company I work for, but to coin a phrase the expression on my mind rhymed with ‘clucking bell’.   Fear not, I thought, no chest consultant in their right mind will sign me off to do that. Now don’t tell Sarah this but on the odd occasion I have known to be wrong and this turned out to be one of them. To be fair, to allay any fears I had the consultant was kind enough to say to me “you have a 50:50 chance of a future lung collapse which may happen regardless of whether you partake in the marathon so what have you got to lose?”. Whilst the NHS were as always fabulous, the expression on my mind this time more closely rhymed with ‘blippant fastard’.   Anyway this is where you good, kind, attractive, intelligent, generous people come in. I have a deal for you. If you can help me achieve my goal of raising £20 per mile to support the wonderful people at WellChild in their charitable work, I promise….no…guarantee that I will re-enter the world of pain. Now I can’t promise whether it will be by running 26.2 miles with a load of enviably fit people (getting overtaken by someone in a deep dive suit is frankly embarrassing) or whether it will be due to being carted off in an ambulance, but either way, WellChild will benefit and help make children’s lives better.   So what do you say?
