Story
My 60th birthday was on 25th April - and so was the London Marathon.
That seemed to be an unmissable coincidence. To you it may seem to be a desperate attempt to regain lost youth.
I ran for Shelter, the homelessness charity, because I grew up close the areas of West London where exploitative landlordism caused such grief, which Shelter was founded to fight. I'm still a bit short of my target despite some fabulous help from friends and colleagues. So if you felt like topping things up, that would be really great.
Marathon running has been good news for me - I met my wife Sian when we both ran the Cardiff in 1981. We ran a few more together and I last ran the London Marathon a quarter-of-a-century ago. This time, I came in an-hour-and-a-half slower - avoiding injury seemed to be the top priority and that worked. It hurt at the time, but I'm okay now.
When there are pictures, I'll put a link here.
