Story
Hey Guys,
As most of you will know my Son Buddy Ray Rees was born on 31st October 2010 3 months premature. He's now doing so well that he's at home and doing just as any other 'normal' baby his age should be doing.
But it was a long process getting to where he is today, and he entered the world at The Royal Oldham Hospital where he received the best care from a fantastic bunch of people who I will always be grateful to.
So now I want to give something back so that they can continue doing their fantastic work and giving the same level of care to lots of other little people who just can't wait to get out and see the world.
Quite why I have chosen to run the Manchester 10k in order to raise money is completely out of order. For the record, I do not run anywhere and have not exercised since packing in rugby 6 years ago. I smoke, I sit on my backside in an office all day and this will probably kill me. So bearing all this in mind guys, I think it's worth donating whatever you can spare to this fantastic cause, cos I'm going to probably kill myself doing it!
Please spread the word and help more little people have a fighting chance at life
The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is asking local residents, organisations and businesses to support a fundraising appeal for the new purpose-built £44m women & children’s facility at The Royal Oldham Hospital, due for completion in December 2012.
The ‘In your hands’ Appeal wants your help and support to provide state of the art facilities and equipment for women & children from Oldham, Rochdale and surrounding districts.
The new facilities will include:
• A new neonatal intensive care unit for the smallest and most vulnerable babies
• New delivery rooms and maternity beds
• Obstetric theatres and a paediatric theatre
• Refurbishment of existing wards and departments
