Great Wall Run · 23 October 2010

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Emma and Danielle will be running (yes running!) The Great Wall Of China in October to raise money for The British Heart Foundation. Please dig deep and donate now!

The event

The event will take place over five days and will be the equivalent of running over a half marathon a day.

The Great Wall of China was originally constructed to keep out nomadic tribes who raided China’s Northern frontier. The nature of the Great Wall is that all the steps are deliberately uneven. This was done so that if the Wall was ever breached, it would still be difficult to get into any rhythm running up the Wall in attack (very bad news for us!).

Due to the difficulty of the terrain, it will mean trekking and running along the stony path which twists its way alongside mountains and by the watchtowers.

Although we under no misconception about how difficult this will be for us, we are both really excited to step up to the challenge! We have started training, and have a number of ideas for fundraising events over the summer in the lead up to the event.

The Charity

The BHF holds a vision of a world in which people do not die prematurely of heart disease.  The charity aims to achieve this through pioneering research, vital prevention activity and ensuring quality care and support for everyone living with heart disease.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
