The Jump

I had a fantastic day! Jumped at 1.00pm with a brill instructor who talked me through it all first. Then I was lifted in to the plane and strapped to his front. It took around 20 nail biting minutes to get to 13500 feet. Then out we jumped.

Free-falling at 120 miles an hour for about a minute - what a feeling that was! Then he opened the parachute and we floated down for about 1-2 mins and came to land very smoothly with 2 great assistants on the ground to lift my legs.

So a big thank you to all Sportabily & The Team for giving me the opportunity to do this!

You can still sponsor Dan and your donations will make thrills and excitement available to other people with paralysis, helping to turn them back on to life!

Some years ago Nottingham based Daniel Asher suffered a horrendous spinal cord injury that left him paralysed in his arms and hands and from the waist down. Through sheer grit and determination he has re-built his life.

His passion for sport lead him to Sportability and he was an avid participant in Charity's West Midlands programme of events. He was so inspired by the experience that he contacted the Charity to take over as our events organiser for his 'homeland' of East Midlands. He's intent on bringing sport to more people with paralysis and has been instrumental in running a programme of canoeing, quadbiking, archery, sailing and other sports in the East Midlands.

Now he wants to raise more money for more events in 2012.

How? By leaping out of an aircraft.Dan is skydiving with the British Parachute School at Langar, south east of Nottingham.

His aim: To raise fund for Sportability and create awareness of the possibilities. He fully subscribes to the Charity's credo of taking the dis out of disability and focusing on ability.

He says, "If by my example we can get more people get with paralysis out of their wheelchairs and into sport, it will be worth every hair raising moment."

Please support Dan in supporting Sportability - your contribution really counts..
