Starting on a Monday 27th April I will be taking on the challenge of crossing Hadrian’s Wall on foot. The wall is 84 miles long but I will be covering 90 miles which encompasses the wall and covers the extra distance to take you from the Irish Sea to the North Sea. 

Due to lockdown restrictions I can’t travel to Hadrian’s wall so the distance will be covered at home and I will track my progress across the wall virtually. Again to comply with lockdown laws I will cover the distance over 21 days, so I will be running just over 7km a day for 21 straight days to make sure I don’t exceed acceptable exercise times. 

We’re all  scared about the current situation with Covid-19 taking so many lives but I’m also aware of the mental toll the situation is taking on us all. Doctors, Nurses and other front line staff are dealing with an impossibly dangerous situation and Mind are working with several other charities to help provide them with the services they need to talk about the difficult situation they’re facing.

It’s hard to imagine what mental toll being hospitalised with the virus takes on people as well. The father of one of my best friends was hospitalised with Covid-19 recently and ended up in ICU before eventually beating it but the mental impact of having been so unwell with what is a deadly condition can’t be underestimated. Not everybody has a home full of family to come back to and lean on for support and Mind are continuing to provide wonderful care and support for anybody who needs it in this difficult time.
