Daniel's Kilimanjaro Machame route

*Regrettable Update: As many of you know mum passed away on 19th January, a week after her 60th birthday. She left this world peacefully, at home, with my dad, brother and me by her side.
For those that attended her funeral, it was overwhelming to see so many of you there, and the number of lives mum touched. Thank you.
*Update: Rich is now climbing with us!
In April 2012 my mum was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease - MND, something that meant absolutely nothing to me at the time but has become a huge part of my family's lives. First reading about the effects of this disease is frightening and the reality is just that, frightening.
From a fit and active professional, to being wheelchair bound in a little over 18 months, with speech and breathing becoming increasingly difficult over recent times, this is a cruel and relentless disease.
With limited awareness and fundraising ever a problem for MND sufferers, my brother and I have competed in a number of triathlons in the last 3 years to raise funds for the MNDA. I now have the urge to go big, nearly 6000 metres upward to be precise!
I will be taking on this challenge with colleagues and friends, Sarah, Ben and Chris and I must thank them for also raising funds for the MNDA - stars! This is no easy challenge - a third of those who attempt this fail!
Any donations you can give will be greatly appreciated and will help us boost my mum's fighting fund, already at £36k. More importantly, your donations will fund much needed research and hopefully bring an end to this currently incurable disease.
