Birmingham Half Marathon · 8 April 2018

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Myself , Luke Shillito and Ruairi Berry will be running the Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday 8th April in support of Pancreatic Cancer UK and Manchester Children's Hospital (specifically Ward 84).

Just as a bit of background: we are fundraising as members of Manchester Medics FC, who will this year be hosting the National Association of Medical Schools (NAMS) football tournament. In association with NAMS is the football club's #Challenge100 a challenge to all the members of the club to raise £100 each for charity.

Currently the 5 year survival rates for Pancreatic Cancer are less than 7% in the UK. Pancreatic Cancer UK are an amazing charity involved in world leading research, also providing information and support to patients diagnosed with the disease. With your help we hope to support the charity in achieving their goal of doubling the 5 year survival rates by 2022.

Equally, The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital provide specialist medical support for children on an International scale. As the largest single-site children's hospital in the UK, they are in constant need of extra funding. The staff on Ward 84, are involved in helping the children, and their families, affected by cancer and other blood diseases.

Due to the way the JustGiving page works, donations via this page will go to PCUK only. However, following NAMS, the football club will be making a matched donation to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for Ward 84.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. All donations, big or small will be greatly appreciated

Dan, Luke and Ruairi
