Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This summer myself and two friends (one of them pictured) are travelling to Nepal with the Helambu Education and Livelihood Project to work as teachers in a local school. The Helambu region is an extremely deprvived region of the country and the work carried out by the project is vital to the severely under-resourced community.
To raise money I am running the Birmingham and Black Country Half Marathon (that's 21km!) on 7th July. I have no targets of impressive finishing times, I just hope to get round in one piece, which will be an impressive feat for a boy who managed to acquire the knickname 'Piggy' on the rugby pitch (surely the one place it is acceptable to be overweight).
The money you donate doesn't go towards covering my flights or expenses, it gets invested directly into the local community where it can make the biggest difference. No donation is too small!
It has also recently dawned on me that, doing a history degree during a recession, I'm probably going to have to become a teacher (especially considering that my two preferred professions of Liverpool's number 9, and male model are looking increasingly unlikely). So I'm sure the trip will be an invaluable personal experience too!
If you'd find it easier to donate via text you can do that too. All you need to do is text 'DANE87' followed by your amount eg '£1' to 70070.
Thanks so much!
Dan
