I am very excited about the prospect of going to India in August as part of the Restless Development team.

I was very lucky to have been selected and given the opportunity to help young people in deprived areas to improve their lives and raise their awareness of how to improve their quality of life.

As part of my acceptance I have been tasked to raise money for Restless Development, so that they can continue their good work and fund more young people to make a difference in the future.

I used to think that I have not  had an easy life, but I have enjoyed most of it, and now I cannot imagine what it is like living on the line of poverty day to day, worrying about basics like food and water, or the wellbeing of your family, community and friends if they are struck down with diseases or infections.

I volunteered with Restless Development because I want to help make a difference and through this page I want to raise as much as I can to contribute to for International Citizen Service community and help them put as many other young people on the front lines  of development as possible. I chose this particular charity as they make an emphasis on using young people for their causes.

Young people make up over half of the worlds population but not many of these people are in a position to make an advantageous change for themselves, due to lacking the same level of education and life skills that we have in the West, so it is my goal to help educate, motivate and empower young people to help themselves and others within their communities to aspire to be better and to make more out of life.

My Plans are big, I will be approaching local companies to assist me with fund raising and spreading the knowledge of these problems and i have 3 goals so far to prove my intentions:

Quit Smoking - This is a horrible habit which I started to fit in with my peers, it has only made my life more stressful, constant craving; and detrimental as I used to be an avid swimmer but now cannot hold my breath for longer than a minute.

Raise Awareness - Through events that, I will host to raise awareness for my charity and what they stand for and ask for extra donations.

Self Development – Through helping others I hope to not only increase my personal skills but to also make a huge difference to other peoples lives, well being and community.

Watch this space as I come up with further ideas for raising money and awareness for my charity!!

Shall be holding a Raffle in Winchester that runs until July the Nineteenth with winnings of £250, an Amazon Kindle Fire HD and a bottle of champagne! Tickets are £1 each and the more the buy the more likely you are to win!
