Staff from London & Capital are joining 3,000 cyclists on Sunday 27th September 2009 to take part in a 45 mile bicycle ride from to .

Money raised will go directly towards the causes supported by the London & Capital Foundation.

The charity that we have chosen for this event links in with the mission statement of The Foundation; "to help relieve poverty and sickness in children worldwide".

London & Capital are aiming to raise £5,000 for The Philippine Community Fund (PCF). The charity is registered in the (1091581) but is co-coordinated in the .

PCF not only provides schooling but also a food for school program, such that for each day that the child comes to school, they will earn a credit so that by the end of the week they would have earned enough credits to have a bag full of food that can be shared with their family. Uneducated children who would normally be forced into labour simply to earn enough money to bring food home for their families.

PCF have set up 4 schools since 2002 catering for 450 children of which 150 are now teenagers. Many of the classes are multi age and the emphasis is for the children to move on based on ability rather than age. 90% of the children attending the school were child labourers.

The £5,000 we are hoping to raise will cover the cost of a new classroom, which are made out of shipping containers 4 storeys high. This is also the first time in the world this has been done.
