Story

As many of you may know, I am currently spending most of 2019 in Tenerife, volunteering for the Atlantic Whale and dolphin foundation (https://www.whalenation.org).

My role here has been to continue the fantastic on-going research into the resident populations of Short Fin Pilot Whales and Bottlenose Dolphins, along with many other species that migrate through Tenerife throughout the year. Also I work with the local community and tourists to raise awareness as to why the conservation of these species is important and the dangers that they face everyday from humans such as yourself.

Whales and Dolphins of the Atlantic Ocean and adjacent seas are under threat as never before- from populations of Blue whales and Right whales on the verge of extinction in the North Atlantic, to Belugas decimated through pollution in the St Lawrence, Vaquita reduced to dozens rather than hundreds through by-catch and river dolphins in Brazil being destroyed by deforestation and pollution. The illegal use of drift nets, by-catch, continued hunting, the devastating impact of plastic pollution on the marine environment and the poisoning of our oceans with toxic chemicals are devastating our environment and nature and bringing many of our cetacean species to the very brink of extinction. We can all Do Something and Make a Difference.

The AWDF is a registered charity, therefore the work we do can only continue with the support ad generous donations from the public.

I am determined to do all that i can in order support these mammals while I am here, therefore I have decided to take on the Teide Challenge. I will attempt to climb El Teide, the third highest Volcano in the world, in total it should take between 8 and 10 hours, so long as it doesn't erupt while we're pm it.

So I really need your encouragement, but more importantly I need your money. This is an extremely worthwhile cause, and every penny I receive will make a massive difference out here. So instead of spending your money on luxuries such as junk food, alcohol or cigarettes, donate it to this cause and you will be contributing to saving the lives of these amazing mammals.

So please, dig deep and donate, then after, tell all your friends about the amazing thing you have done today to keep these whales and dolphins alive for many years to come.

Many Thanks,

Daniel.
