We provide education in conflict zones to help people realise a better future

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I had not heard of the African Educational Trust (AET) until recently but I believe the work that it completes in some very difficult circumstances is highly valuable to the people that benefit from its support. I really see education as the key that locks together all other elements of a society's development and causes them to operate in a more open and humane manner.

As kids we often take education for granted but it is so fundamental to how we grow and develop- not just as individuals but as large groups and societies.

In particular I feel that the provision of education in conflict zones is pivotal in providing a constant in children's lives and is an opportunity for the youth of today to gain the knowledge to help them confront and overcome the tremendous challenges they face in the present so that they don't have to face them in the future.

Oh yeah and as many of you know I'm an unhealthy bastard with a tendency to drink too much and this marathon is going to be the end of me!

So please dig deep for this brilliant charity (and my demise) and donate now!

Cheers!!

Daniel Poirrier.

About the charity

Africa Educational Trust provides education to children and adults affected by conflict and poverty in Eastern Africa. Reaching over a quarter of a million people every year, we work to build better education systems and give learning opportunities to people who missed the chance to go to school.
