I am running the Virgin London Marathon 2010 to raise money for St Thomas' Hospital. I have chosen to raise money for this charity due to my cousion, Sarah, giving birth to her son 16 weeks premature at this hospital. The support, tremendous expertise and fantastic care both she and the baby received was so amazing i have decided this is a more than worthy cause.

 

This is Sarah's story ...........

''My son Stanley was born on 18th February 2009 at St Thomas Hospital. I had gone into labour whilst at work when he was only 24 weeks which was obviously a real shock. He weighed only 760 gram's. He was immediately put on a life support machine, with the doctors only giving him a 20% chance of survival. After 13 blood transfusions, a heart operation, a punctured lung and numerous infections, Stanley came through. He stayed 5 months in hospital and has been left with Chronic Lung Disease which means he permanently requires oxygen support. Without the amazing work of the Doctors and Nurses at St Thomas' Stanley would not be here today.''
