Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you may know i am embarking on a seven day 100km trek across the Sahara on the 30th October, with only a handful of people and camels for company!

What started off as a sadistic holiday, has now given me the opportunity to raise money for the charity, St. Raphael's Hospice in Sutton.

Since 1987, St Raphael's has offered the special skills of Hospice care to those facing life-threatening illness living in the boroughs of Merton and Sutton (predominantly Wimbledon, Merton, Sutton and Cheam). The service is completely free of charge, and provides high quality medical and nursing skills to sustain quality of life in an atmosphere of peace and comfort for patients, as well as support to family and friends.

This is a charity very close to my heart as my mother was a patient of the hospice six years ago. I've seen first-hand the great work that all the staff do and would like to give something back to say thank you.

The hospice receives only 28% of its £3 million annual costs from the NHS, where the rest of their annual costs are made up through charitable donations.  All of your contributions will go directly to St. Raphael's Hospice and none of it to support my trek in any way.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you,

Daniel
