Story

Thank you to everyone who has donated to Brain Tumour UK, in connection with our world record attempt to run the longest ever relay. In total, we aim to run 2,600 miles between us, in 100 continuous marathon relay stages (night and day), raising funds for brain tumour research and promoting awareness. On Friday night, 4th May, I ran the fourth leg - just over 26 miles between Folkestone and Rye. It was a unique experience - running along a very dark A259, mostly without pavements, at the end of a working week - and it turned into a surprisingly tough mental challenge. I was the only runner for the first 13 miles, and it was quite bleak and lonely, though I had fabulous moral support and encouragement from my mum on the route; thankfully, I was joined by another guy for the second half. I passed the baton on just after midnight, after 3 hours and 45 minutes. The relay continues around the edge of the UK and, by 21st May, when the baton returns to London, we hope to have a new world record. You can track our progress live at www.relaygb.org. Many thanks again for your support. x
