Neuro-rehabilitation looks after brain related conditions; a common cause being a stroke. I used to be completely oblivious that such places even existed, but it&rsquo;s not until you need them, you realise how important they are.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 20.0pt; text-align: justify; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 19.0pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US">I used to be an Airline Captain and Examiner until I had a car accident when someone turned in front of me while I was traveling at 60mph and changed my life forever. All suffering with brain-related conditions.</span><span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; text-align: justify; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 19.0pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; color: #111111; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US">The majority of patients&nbsp;include <span style="mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">walking</span> as&nbsp;one of their personal goals and this can often be key in gaining some&nbsp;level of independence.&nbsp; With this in mind, I am raising funds for a very specific piece of equipment, which is a specialist&nbsp;treadmill and a de-weighting system. This will allow them to assist and&nbsp;retrain people from an early stage&nbsp;to walk again.&nbsp;</span><span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 20.0pt; text-align: justify; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 19.0pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US">We take walking and simple tasks for granted, but it&rsquo;s not until conditions like this happen, often through no fault of our own, you then realise just how important they are. I can still remember being taken out to cross the street opposite the Hospital, because I wasn&rsquo;t capable of doing it on my own. How things can change.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 20.0pt; text-align: justify; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 19.0pt; font-family: &quot;Times New Roman&quot;; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;" lang="EN-US">I am planning to climb to Everest Base Camp, the trek is to just over 18,000 feet, and involves an expedition of 23 days with walking 5-6 hours per day.
