Danielle's Capital One three peaks challenge

Three peaks · 6 July 2018
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page...
On the 6th July, myself and approx 40 other people from CapitalOne are going to be tackling the 3 biggest peaks across Scotland, Wales and England together with CharityChallenge over the very short period of 24 hours...eeeeeeek!
(just check out how far away from each other these peaks are to be able to do this in 24 hours!)
Some of you may know that before my stepdad passed away in 2001, he was an avid mountain climber and was one of the reasons that i progressed to do both my bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh awards (didnt quite make it to gold!). Therefore, i have a little experience of mountain climbing but the last one i did was probably 12 years ago so its safe to say i may be a little out of practice...
Im currently training at least 5 days a week with a mix of training at the gym, playing the glorious sport of netball and some weekend walks thrown in on occasion too so hopefully i wil be up to the task by the time this date rolls around (hopefully). I have my kit sorted so i will be looking good doing it anyway ;) haha
In my own life i can name at least a handful of people who have been affected by mental health and worse, have been stereotyped and treated badly because of it. It's not my place to name names as everyone is responsible for their own story but hopefully, with a little help from you and my fundraising, they might find it easier in the future which is why i feel so strongly about doing this challenge.
Times have changed and mental health is no longer something to be kept quiet about. It's healthy to talk about it and does nothing except make you a bigger person for admitting you might have an issue but taking the responsibility and ownership to seek help for the benefit of yourself and those closest to you. I applaud anyone who is willing to stand up and admit their own faults as thats what it takes to move past them.
Sadly though, even though it is slowly becoming acceptable to talk about these things, in terms of support our NHS is sorley underfunded and many people do not get the help that they need which is where this great charity comes in.
