Thank you so much for visiting my page! Now, here’s what I’m up to:

I am fundraising for Raleigh International, which is a charity working with ordinary people who want to do something extraordinary with their lives and make a difference in the world.  Raleigh works in partnership with local communities to make a much needed difference to people's lives, supporting their efforts to improve their standard of living.  The charity helps in enabling communities to access basic services such as water, sanitation, education and energy, using renewable resources.  More info can be found on their website (Please click 'read more')

How will I help?  On 22nd January 2012 I am leaving my job, flat, friends and family to fly to Costa Rica to volunteer on a Raleigh expedition for just over 3 months.  As a Project Manager, my dual objective is to deliver the aims of the project while facilitating the personal development of the young venturers in my group.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can make a genuine difference to the communities and people I work with – I’m not sure if I’ll ever have a better opportunity to help than this.

How will you help?  Any donation you make will help to buy the equipment and materials needed along the way, and will support local partners to work with communities before and after the expedition to ensure it is a valued project that will make a long-term difference to their health and economy.

If you need any more convincing, my lovely friends have come up with some weird and wonderful ideas to see me ‘earn’ every donation, the phrase ‘no pain, no gain’ will feature heavily in the next 6 months – I’ll keep you posted!  Please sponsor me to keep me going, suggest any ridiculous challenges you want to see me tackle, and to help such a wonderful cause.

Thank you xx

19th July Update:The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge!

So I promised the phrase 'no pain, no gain' would feature in my fundraising, and it's started! Some of my fantastic friends have volunteered to help me fundraise by walking the Yorkshire peaks with me on Saturday 1st October. This may be a walk in the park for some of you, but 24.5 miles (39.2km) with 5,000 feet (1,600 metres) of climbing really will be painful to the rest of us!! (Lets just say I get the lift up 2 floors at work!) Our aim will be to complete all three peaks in under 12 hours.

Everyone doing this challenge is kindly doing it to help me gain donations for Raleigh. Therefore please do sponsor them via this page and the money will go straight to the charity. There is a chance to write a comment after you've donated which will appear below, and it is here you can write them a message to wish them luck!

THANK YOU! X

3rd October: WE DID IT!

With the support of great friends, we completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge this weekend and raised a lot of money which is fantastic! I will let everyone know what the total raised was when it’s collected in. Thank you to all my lovely friends for coming this weekend, really proud of us all! I’m suffering now though, I look like a patient at the hospital rather than staff! X

12th October: wow…
