In April 2010 I will be visiting Israel on behalf of WIZO, but not for a holiday!! 

WIZO is an international women's charity whose sole aim is to raise funds for families living in poverty and children living at risk in Israel. 

This sponsored trip will involve my hands getting very dirty working on a number of WIZO projects that will make a difference to the lives of families and children. These will include creating a garden at a day care centre for children at risk, building a dance studio at a residential school and teaching children english.

The donations made to WIZO mean that children at risk have somewhere safe to go during the day and after school where they receive nutritious meals and help with their studies. It means that battered women have a safe refuge to go to and it also means that families can help to improve their abilities in being good parents and raising their children well.

I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to make a small difference to peoples lives.  This is the first project that I will have experienced and I know that it will be very rewarding and the memory of it will stay with me for a long time.
