Leeds RAG Jailbreak · 18 March 2013

KEEPTHEBEAT is a charity established to provide hope and support to the families affected by congenital heart defects. The Charity will have a particular interest in Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, but over time we hope to develop and cover all CHD's.

Story

Hi guys, thanks for visiting our page,

So... we've decided to discover our adventurous side and participate in a 36 hour hitch-hiking race to get as far away from Leeds as possible without spending a penny!

Previous winners have got as far as Australia or Hong Kong...!

The reason we are competing is to raise money and awareness for a brilliant charity- KEEPTHEBEAT: a charity that work with children and families predominantly through Glenfield Hospitals Children's Heart Unit, Leicester.

Now why do we feel this is a good cause?

In December 2012 Dani’s nephew was born with a congenital heart defect, Pulmonary Atresia, he is now out of hospital and doing really well. The work Keepthebeat carry out at Glenfield hospital helped and will help my nephews, brother and sister in law in the future. We want to ensure the work they carry out can continue to help more people in their situation.

This just proves that anyone can be born with a heart disorder, 1 in 133 children! The facilities and funding for families from the Midlands or Northern England are limited so just a small donation could go a heck of a long way; providing equipment, information and vital support for families that need it most.

Please donate as much as you can, anything you can give will have a bigger impact than you can believe.

Talking about a little going a long way...hopefully you'll be hearing headlines about two girls, in orange jumpsuits with a ukulele, who have managed to blag their way a very long way away from here (hopefully out of the uk!)

Any advice, ideas, (contacts) would be greatly appreciated ;)

Thank you!!

Lots of love

Dani and Thula xxx
