Thank you for visiting my page. 22nd Oct 2009 Successfully climbed to Ahuru Peak the highest point on the Kibo - Kilimanjaro.

We started the final day at 2330 hrs, in  temperatures of 15 below zero, and wind force gusting to 30-35 knots, there will be no reprieve through out the assent, we were on the slopes of the highest mountain in Africa with nothing to shelter us from the winds.  One step at a time, the breathing became heavier with every foot of increase in Height, the heart beating like a fast timer, the tip of the fingers became numb, the tube for the hydration pack froze, and the legs became rubbery.   Why was I there?

We took up a challenge, trekking (no lines and hooks are used thus it is referred to as "trekking") to Ahuru Peak (Independence Peak) the top of Kilimanjaro, the in .  This involves a trek of 7-12 hours each day (The final day was 22 hours), for 6 consecutive days, reaching a height of 5895m, in minimum temperatures ranging between -18 to -26 C and minimum oxygen level half of that at sea level.

This is in support of a  charity "The Friends of the Citizen Foundation(FTCF)UK.    works together with The Citizen Foundation (TCF), which is ’s leading non profit education charity.  In October 2009 (16 -25 Oct), accompanied by some friends and a team from the Please note that all your donations go directly to TCF and do not fund my travel and equipment expenses, which are borne by myself

The charity supports the building, staffing and running of primary and secondary schools in .  TCF has;
  - built 600 purpose-built schools nationwide
  - providing formal quality education to 80,000 children from the poorest and most deprived families
  - regardless of ethnicity, gender, caste or religion.

Children who otherwise be living a backstreet life now have an opportunity to change their destiny via education.

TCF encourages female enrolment and boasts of a 50% female ratio in almost every campus. TCF has a full Female Faculty of 4,150 members.  The funds raised from this trip will help TCF continue their good work and realise their target of educating 350000-400,000 children by 2012.  I have known of this  charity for the last several years and have personally met the people who have given hope to so many.The KILIMANJARO is 5896 meters high, my goal is to raise GBP 10 for every meter height. A challenging target for a challenging task, nevertheless achievable with the help, love and support of family and friends. More than ever before I seek your support for this noble cause. Any donation big or small will go a long way in helping educate these children.
Through education we can alleviate poverty, open minds and set people truly free.

So please donate generously.

I very much look forward to your support.
