Story

Hi,

I can't remember the last time I ran more than three-and-a half miles - in fact I'm not sure I ever have.

However, despite initial reluctance, I have been persuaded by colleagues at the Leicester Mercury to plod and wheeze my way around the Asics British 10K London Run in July.

Training so far hasn't progressed beyond contemplating going for a jog. The motivation of earning £500 in sponsorship will, of course, shift me out of neutral.

Any pennies you can offer will go to the Laura Centre - a very special charity in Leicester. It gives bereavement counselling to kids who lose a parent, brother or sister, or parents whose child dies. It was set up by Gail and Harry Moore, who wanted to do something to help other bereaved families, after their five year old daughter died of cancer.

If you are kind enough to sponsor me you might also be generous enough to help out my lovely fiancee Ali who is also running.

http://www.justgiving.com/Ali-Curtis

It's highly likely she'll beat me round the course so she might as well raise more money than me too.

Ta,

Dan
