Story

That morning will live me forever. Half way across the world in Australia and my phone rings in the early hours of Sunday morning. Its Shaun from back home. One of the toughest lads i know. And he is incomprehendable . So bad, he puts the phone down 3 times before he gets out what he wants to tell me. Sarah's left. She's not coming back!!!! 12 hours later i was on a plane to Melbourne to go to work away from Adelaide and anyone i could hug.

The next 5 days before deciding to fly back home to the UK, where the biggest roller coaster of emotions my mind and body has ever been through. Like a little sister to me i was devasted. What hurt me is knowing all her friends and loved ones where thousands of miles away and i couldnt be there for them all to hold and support.

Until that day i hadnt cried in what felt like eternity. Since then i feel like somewdays i dont know if ill ever stop. She was one of the few shining lights in this dark and cruel world we inhabit. But thats the thing, see. Sez was about smiles, laughter, positivity and making a change .... a difference. Her dream was to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world!! What a Woman and all in the name of others.

A year ago i would have been happy to see a video if someone went. But Sez has built a home inside my heart and reminds me to live everyday like its your last.

Life aint a dress rehersal! You only get one take for the movie of your life. And theres no cuts or edits.

Sarah's inspirations in life came from children, art, fitness and adventure and a Memorial Fund has been established in Guernsey to support these four things.  It has full Trust status and is administered by the Guernsey Community Foundation www.foundation.gg

Funds allocated to Children will provide facilities, experiences and opportunities to young persons under the age of 16 that would otherwise be out of their reach financially or from an organisational perspective.  In many cases participants will come from deprived backgrounds both locally and overseas. Funds allocated to Art will provide educational experiences, opportunities and equipment to young persons under the age of 21 that would otherwise be out of their reach financially or organisationally. 20% of funds available within this category go towards an art bursary at Sarah’s school in Ascot where she spent 7 very happy years and where they still have very fond memories of her. Income will be generated by Adventure and Fitness (for example, people running marathons or going on expeditions).

This Memorial Fund represents Sarah and her inspirational philosophy of life.

Any donations are warmly welcomed, and thank you so much for your kindness and support! I will be paying all of the flights and most travel and  accommodation costs, and some of the money I fundraise will go towards the rest, but over 50% of money raised is purely for the Fund, which means that as a group we hope to raise, after all expenses, over £50,000!!! Which will be incredible for the Fund!
