My story

Hi everyone

You may or may not know I was asked by a good friend of mine Emma who works for a Surrey based charity (Surrey Care Trust) if I would like to run the London Marathon this year to help raise some money for what I consider to be a very worthy cause that is local to my area. I accepted the challenge as it is something that I have always admired people for doing and if I can raise some cash that will hopefully change other people lives then why not.

Those of you that know me will know that I am no Ron Hill so this is going to be a challenge but with hard training I’m getting there and will complete the full distance on the day.

The minimum amount I have to raise is £1500 but I really want to smash that as talking to Emma about what they do down there and the type of people they help makes you realise that it’s not just people that you read about in the media or see on the news that need the support they give, its people down the road on our doorsteps (not literally) that would inevitably take the wrong path in life if they didn’t have the guidance and support that the trust gives them. So please dig deep, I’m not going to turn into some Jimmy Saville or Eddy Izzard (well you never know) and it’s for a cause that really makes the difference.

Below is a brief overview of what they do at the trust but please take a look at their website so you can get a good feel for what they do and the people that they help.

The Surrey Care Trusts tries to help people with disadvantage, lack of opportunity or who need a second chance.  We do this in many ways:

·         Offer immediate help to those in great financial need.

·         Offer courses designed to help vulnerable young people back into education and achieve skills and self-confidence they need for a successful and fulfilling life.

·         Offer second chance learning and training people of all ages whose lack of skills limit their opportunities.

·         Offer offenders and ex-offenders help to improve their life chances and create a safer community by helping to reduce re-offending.

We are committed to giving chances to those who have experienced failure and rejection and offering them help to change.

Now that you know that I’m going to do all the hard work and that it’s for a good cause all you have to do is do the easy bit by going to http://www.justgiving.com/Dario-Bertuzzi and pledging as much as you can. Anyway anyone who’s prepared to train five days a week and run 26miles in front of packed London Streets in those dodgy silky running sorts (with my legs) is worth putting your hands in your pockets for.

Please circulate this email to everyone you know, every little helps.

Thanks for your support
