AFK is a disability and neurodiversity charity providing support to children and young people across the UK. We assist young people in accessing specialised mobility equipment that isn't available on the NHS and routes to paid employment in an effort to close the disability employment gap.

Story

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for visiting my page and taking the time to (hopefully) sponsor me. For those that don't know I have run the last 7 London Marathons and if I complete this years it will be the 10th time I have completed the distance, so it's a bit of a landmark for me. I will be trying to fit my training around my working, drinking and other interests so that I can beat my current (and frankly quite pathetic) personal best of 4hr 18mins, although if I don't it will still mark an achievement.

Update 12th February 2010 - I have already run 16 miles as my longest run and I'm averaging 9.5 minute miles so 4 hours is finally in my sights.....

Update 12th April 2010 - I have run up to my maximum training distance of 22 miles. Following a planned absence (playing with a snowboard and a mountain) and an unplanned absence (due to an ear infection and balance issues) I am back into my training and yesterday I got a respectable if not earth shattering 1hr51 in a half marathon.

Thanks once again, your continued support of my insanity is much appreciated.

Darren.
