The Bristol to London

The Bristol to London "shuffle" with Darren Calder and Co. · 18 April 2014
Feeling fabulous! The mission was accomplished Monday evening and it's the most amazing feeling in my life that I cannot even begin to explain it. Most of the team I didn't ask to ride but their will power and sheer desire to get through each day on their own crusade to support me was overwhelming.
Please read the Story below which explains why i originally set the cycle challenge.
I am involved in an 18 month cutting edge clinical trial at Frenchay Hospital, to support those suffering with Parkinson's disease
9 months down the line, I have made a huge commitment to this study and I have no regrets about volunteering for the trial whatever the outcome. It is a privilege to be part of something that could change lives”
The drive and commitment to the trial comes from holding on to the hope that one day there will be a cure and people will no longer stare at the person they think is drunk shuffling down the road (That's currently me doing my Jack Douglas)
So my challenge... with a little help from my friends, was to cycle from Bristol to London departing from Frenchay Hospital on Good Friday and reaching our destination at Tower Bridge on Easter Monday.
This required approximately 46 miles of cycling per day following Route 4. To an able bodied person or keen cyclist this could of been a walk in the park so to speak but when you add Parkinson's into the mix, the challenge became very shaky... And believe me, it was!!
I set a target of fundraising 10k during 2014 to support the fabulous cause that is Move For Parkinson's which will allow the neurology unit currently based at Frenchay hospital to transition across to Southmead hospital in order to carry on its fantastic work in facilities that are far more suited. This will benefit future patients and the fantastic hospital staff who work within it (The A Team).
