Story
Word up homies!
Thanks for looking at my JustGiving page. A few weeks ago, my friends Rob and Louise challenged me to run the Great North Run. I stupidly accepted - on the basis that it'll utterly burn them up inside if I beat them!!! I also thought it'd be a great opportunity to raise some money for a charity close to my heart - The Breast Cancer Campaign.
A while ago, my mum was diagnosed with potential breast cancer - fortunately she's still with me, but I'm painfully aware that this is not the case with many people.
This was brought to light when my band played a charity festival in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign - Lexapalooza - organised by an amazing woman called Lexie. It was the first and last time I met Lexie. She passed away months later. I played the festival the next year and was amazed to see just what an amazing legacy she left behind. I'll keep playing Lexapalooza every year they'll have my band but I wanted to do something more.....AND THIS IS IT. I'm going to sweat my way round 13 miles of Newcastle.
So this is for mum, Lexie and everyone else who has been touched by the terrible disease that is breast cancer.
Please please please dig deep.
Darren
