Story
After signing up for the Edinburgh Half Marathon in December (which takes place on the 27th of May), one of my friends was diagnosed with Leukemia and after chatting to her about raising funds for a charity, she told me of the incredible care and support she had received from the Ayrshire Cancer support group, I have therefore decided to choose this charity on behalf Barbara (Babsy)
Ok the saga so far,I did my first run in December, I ran 5K which took 36 minutes and I thought I was going to pass out after 15 minutes (So unfit............!!!!)...... I'm happy to say I can run for over an hour now and have managed 12k in 59:56 !!!!!..
But for everyone that knows me well, you will know there's got to be an unbelievable somewhere. 8 weeks before race day I get shin splints. Ouch...... UNBELIEVABLE!!!! . I have just started running again after 2 weeks off and they seem to be not to bad, just need to take it easy..... wish me luck !!!
OK folks thats the hard graft done.........First and foremost thanks to everyone that has donated, I dont know the exact total but I reckon I may top £750, which certainly makes my sore legs worth it.....
My official time was 1 hr 47 min & 06 secs which I am delighted with as I would have been happy to break the 2 hour barrier.. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
To top it off. Marathon has been positioned 38th in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For 2012 and to celebrate this they are giving all 5 assets that they own £3000 for chosen charities. I am pleased to say that Ayrshire Cancer Support which I selected into the draw was chosen and will benefit from the awarded money......
