On New Year’s Eve last year I not only said goodbye to 2011, I also said goodbye to my mum as that was the last time I spoke to her. She passed away after a short battle with cancer on New Year’s Day with all her family around her. The people of Velindre hospital and the nurses of George Thomas Hospice were truly fantastic and helped my mum and our family through difficult times.
Those of you who know me will know that I am not a runner in any shape or form, but when I was asked to join the team raising money for George Thomas Hospice Care, I thought if they can go out of their way to help so many families each year then I can go out of my way and try something completely out of my comfort zone.
I can currently run 2 miles, yes a whole 2 miles. So I am embarking on an intensive training programme to see if I can get to 13 miles in 11 weeks and I’m told this may involve giving up beer, which I must say has made me sweat more than the running does!
All I ask is for your support and if you can spare a pound or two for this good cause then we can together help other families who are going through very difficult times.
