On the 30th November 2011 a day I will never forget our son Ben (7yrs) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The diagnosis turned our world upside down. Feeling helpless and lost, and after shedding many tears we took support and guidance from many areas. Diabetes has proved to be be a real challenge to us as a family, Ben has faced his condition with great maturity beyond his tender years, injecting himself 4 times a day with insulin from an early stage and conducting his own blood tests (as well as ours). As a father watching this feeling helpless I wanted to do something more to help. JDRF have provided fantastic support to my family, their research for the future provides hope that at some point there could be a cure for diabetes. WE LIVE IN HOPE.
